20) Charmouth Slope: This is the main South facing slope at Charmouth. Twice a year there is a Heli-Meet at Newlands Caravan & Camping site in Charmouth. Some of the lads from the ISA have been going to this gathering for years, but I am just a recent attendee. We hire out caravans, drink beer, eat curry and fish and chips, drink beer copiously and attempt to pull 'wheely Bins' at the local discotheque :) It's a good social event, but we have been a bit unlucky with the wind on occasions. I have never been there when the wind has been directly on this slope, but it looks superb doesn't it. |

21) Charmouth - Portland Bill - This picture was taken from my first excursion to Charmouth. The wind was a howling westerly, so we drove to Portland Bill (through a massive traffic jam I seem to remember- some naval base was closing down). Austin is knelt down to reduce the impact of the wind, 'cause it was really in yer face. The Adrenaline (Purbeck) is out there somewhere! I flew, Tony and Austin flew, Pete, Ian's cousin would have flown, had I not smashed his gliders wings across my knee as I lifted the model ready to be launched. D'oh. | |
